Cervical radiculopathy is a disorder of the cervical spinal nerve root causing pain in a radicular pattern in one or both upper extremities. The most common levels that are effected are C7-->C6-->C4-5. It can effect anyone over the age of 18 y.o. but will be seen most often in women over 50 y.o. Although this condition can be caused by many different things some of the main causes are; cervical disk herniation, degenerative changes and compression of the neural structures by osteophytes (older patients), or other space occupying lesions. These may all cause nerve root inflammation, impingement, or both. Patients may experience tenderness upon palpation and/or painful, insidious weakness. (3,5,6)
